Bruce Dennis Lorenz, 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 22, 2026. Born on January 7, 1949, to the late Vernon August Lorenz and Dorothea Peglow Lorenz in Pittsburgh, PA, Bruce lived the majority of his life there, with work taking him to stops in Emerald, WI; Richland, WA; Oak Ridge, TN; and lately of Rock Hill, SC. Working as a nuclear regulatory engineer for Westinghouse, and later for Bechtel, for many years, Bruce also was a practicing attorney. Always a lifelong learner, he graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in aquatic biology while later doing postgraduate work at the University of Wisconsin and earning his law degree from Duquesne University.

Bruce was known for his warm and friendly personality, playful sense of humor, and quick wit, never at a loss for a smile, a prank, or a “dad joke.” He was someone who made others feel comfortable and at ease, building bridges among people both personally and professionally.

The next person who has a bad word to say about Bruce would be the first.

Bruce is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Jo Alice Lorenz, who remained at his side during his prolonged health battles until the end. He also is survived by his three loving children, Joshua Lorenz (Erin) of Murrysville, PA, Amanda Lorenz Harris (J) of Taylors, SC, and Tiffany Lorenz of Rock Hill, SC, as well as his four adoring grandchildren, Zachary Lorenz, Caleb Lorenz, Austin Lorenz, and Johnny Harris; his sister, Diane Nicholson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Private burial in his hometown of Pittsburgh with a future celebration of life for his family will take place.
