John Norman Lind, 93, of Rock Hill, went to be with our heavenly Father on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at his home. Visitation and funeral services will be at 1PM on Friday, October 30th at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Montgomery officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road directly after the funeral.

John was born on July 13, 1933 in Charleroi, PA, where he is remembered and celebrated for a basketball goal at the buzzer that lead his team to a championship win back in 1950, when he was 16 years old. At 20, Lind was drafted into the Army and served from April 16, 1953 until he was discharged on April 15, 1955. He served in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC as a paratrooper during the Korean War. During leave one summer, Lind traveled to Rock Hill with a buddy where he met Gaynell and they fell in love and got married 3 months later, on November 6, 1954. From there, Lind finished his service to our country and moved to Rock Hill, where he remained. He then worked for the US Postal Service as a Clerk for 38 years. He devoted his free time to ministry, including being very involved at Manchester Creek Community Church and pastoring at the pre-release center. Music, ministry, and evangelism were a big part of who John was. He also shared this love with his family, keeping worship and music at the center of their lives. You could always expect to see John with a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye, and a story about God’s blessings in his life. John 3:16
