Ruby Hamby Faile, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 27, 2026, at the age of 100, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and cherished memories.
Born on September 19, 1926, in Gaffney, South Carolina, to George and Beulah Hamby, Ruby spent most of her life in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and caring for others.
A longtime member of Catawba Baptist Church, Ruby’s faith was an important part of her life. She loved singing in the church choir and devoted decades to caring for children in the church’s daycare, touching countless young lives with her kindness and nurturing spirit. Outside of her church and family, Ruby enjoyed sewing, creating with diamond art, losing herself in a good book, and her daily episodes of Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy.
Ruby had a special gift for bringing joy to those around her. Her smile and laughter could light up any room, and it was nearly impossible to have a bad day in her presence. She had a warmth and spirit that made everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether through a kind word, a shared laugh, or simply the joy of being together, Ruby made life brighter for those fortunate enough to know her.
Above all, Ruby loved her family fiercely. Her devotion to those she loved was unwavering, and the memories she created across a remarkable century of life will continue to be treasured for generations to come.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Gene Faile, and her sons, Cody E. Faile and Jody V. Faile.
She is survived by her grandson, Jeffrey Faile, and his wife, Nicole; her great-grandson, Cody McLean Faile; her daughters-in-law, Teresa H. Faile and Debra Faile; and the many friends whose lives she touched and who were blessed to share in her remarkable 100 years.
Though Ruby will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, faith, and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a gift to her family and friends, and her memory will forever bring comfort, gratitude, and a smile to those who loved her.
Services will be held on Sunday, November 8 at 3:30pm at Catawba Baptist Church, 1450 Anderson Rd S, Rock Hill, SC 29730. The family will receive visitors prior from 2:00pm – 3:15pm.
