Ronald Loyd Murphy went home to be with our Lord on November 2, 2026, after a courageous and ongoing battle with dementia. He was surrounded by love, with his wife of 44 years by his side.

Born on April 26, 1957, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Ron was a man who left his own special mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Murphy; his mother, Barbara Murphy; and his twin brother, Donny Murphy, all from Belmont, North Carolina.

Ron was a hard worker who took pride in what he did. After graduating from York Technical College with a degree in HVAC/Refrigeration, he went on to build and operate his own business, Murphy’s Refrigeration, which he ran for 28 years. His dedication, determination, and willingness to work hard were a reflection of the man he was.

But more than his accomplishments, Ron will be remembered for the person he was. He had a humor all his own and a special way of bringing laughter into a room. No matter what life brought his way, he could find a little positivity in any situation. He had an aura about him, a light and presence that was uniquely Ron. You didn’t have to know him long to feel it, and you certainly didn’t forget it.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Susan Richardson Murphy; his son, Seth Murphy; his daughter, Kendall Murphy; and his two brothers, Audie Murphy and Tony Murphy. He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Gavin Murphy and Grayson Murphy, children of Seth; and Peyton Murphy and Riley Adair, children of Kendall. His family was an important part of his life, and his love will live on through each of them.

To those who loved him, Ron was so much more than the things he accomplished. He was a husband, a father, a brother, and a friend. He was laughter when things were hard, positivity when life got heavy, and a presence that could brighten an ordinary day.

Although dementia may have taken pieces of him along the way, it could never take away the love, memories, laughter, and impact he leaves behind. Those who knew and loved Ron will carry his spirit with them always.

Ron will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and truly missed. His light will continue to shine in the hearts of all those who loved him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 from 6:00-7:30 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2026 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Greene Funeral Home.
