Fort Mill, SC – Gracie McClain Blanchard, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at her home after a long illness.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm-1:50 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Cornerstone Baptist Church of Fort Mill, 1790 Gardendale Road, Fort Mill, SC 29708. The service will follow at 2:00 pm at the church, with Rev. Barry Yates officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, 620 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Born in Chesterfield County, Mrs. Blanchard was the daughter of the late Gary McClain. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Blanchard, her daughter, Mildred Monteith, and granddaughter, Sherry Monteith, her great-grandson, Michael Monteith, and her son-in-law, Lee Robertson.
Mrs. Blanchard developed her strong work ethic early in life working in the cotton fields and then later found her way into the textile industry. She had many hobbies, including dancing, cooking, sewing, and canning. She also loved the outdoors, finding ways to spend her time gardening, camping, and fishing. She always caught the most and biggest one. She also loved singing gospel songs. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Surviving are her 4 children, Peggy Robertson, Donnie Blanchard, Janice Blanchard, and Linda Hill; her grandchildren, Tonya Robertson, El Robertson, Lil’ David Blanchard, Amanda Copeland, Jason Mullinax, and Cortney McGuire; 4 great-grandchildren; and 4 great, great-grandchildren.
Gracie never met a stranger and loved all she came in contact with, especially little children and animals. Above all else, she loved her Lord. Even through her struggles with dementia, she never failed to remember Him.
