Johnnie Lyle Rockholt, 94, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025.

Born in Rock Hill, SC on March 23, 1930, Johnnie was the son of the late Joseph Lynn Rockholt and Minnie Carolyn Williford Rockholt. Johnnie was a devoted husband to Carolyn Jeannette Jones for 54 years before her death in 2006. Also preceding him are his brothers, William, Harry, Oliver, Bobby and Tommy Rockholt, a sister, Jane Carolyn, his son, Dean Rockholt, daughter, Cecelia Arrants and 2 grandsons, Jason and Nic Rockholt.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Valerie Rockholt; his sister, Ann Reeves (Buddy), two brothers-Jimmy Rockholt (Duvy) and Charles Rockholt; a daughter, Carol Reeves, sons David Rockholt (Barbara), Tim Rockholt (Shona); 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by step children, Daniel Chandler, Tyler Chandler, Kamerlyn Burgess and Harley Burgess, as well as 6 step-grandchildren.

Johnnie retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing after 44 years. He also served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and could be found in the rows of one of his many gardens almost any time of year. He enjoyed sharing his crops with family, friends and his neighbors. Johnnie was always willing to lend a hand to his neighbors, especially Mrs. Willie Mae Kennedy and family, Mrs. Nancy Zesati and family, and Mrs. Alberta Chisholm and family.

As a devoted member of Neely’s Creek ARP Church, Johnnie could be found trimming the crepe myrtles in the winter, cleaning up the grounds, serving as a deacon and could always be counted on to have peppermints in his pocket to give out. Johnnie loved to fish and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A service for Johnnie will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2pm at Neely’s Creek ARP Church, burial will take place immediately after the service at the church cemetery. Family will hold a visitation after the burial at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Neely’s Creek ARP Church or Mt. Holly Methodist Church.
