Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Carl H. Covington 88, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025.  A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, 5780 Allison Creek Road, York, SC 29745.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM.

As native of Rock Hill, Carl was born on July 17, 1936, to the late Guy Bannon Covington and Ella Minerva Fox Covington. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and graduated from Spartanburg Junior College in 1959. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1954-1957. He worked as a millwright at Bowater and retired after 38 years.  He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed quail hunting and loved his bird dogs. Carl was lovingly known as “Papa” by many. Watching sports was a favorite pastime, especially The Atlanta Braves, Clemson Tigers, Gamecock Football and any other sports or events his children or grandchildren were involved in.

Carl is survived by his children, Randall C. Covington (Tammy), Gayle Covington Mueller (Jeff) and Christopher E. Covington (Amanda); his eight grandchildren, Amber Melton (Jason), Justin Covington (Danielle), Savannah Peoples (Jordan), Melynn Mueller, Emma Covington, Landon Mueller, Belle Covington, and Jack Covington; his great-grandchildren, Jonathan Melton, Caleb Melton, Connor Sweatt, Lilly Covington, Everett Peoples, and soon-to-be, Lucy Frances Peoples.  He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Lovett, Norma Covington, Sara Jennings and Ralph Covington and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his late parents, Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Covington, to whom he was married for 36 years; and his siblings, Ray Covington, George Covington, Libby Harrison, Paul Covington, Don Covington, Bill Covington, Betty Adickes and Ronald Covington.
