Julia Henninger passed peacefully after a battle with cancer on March 7, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward Henninger, daughters Sara Dunn (Thomas), Emily Ridenhour (Daniel), grandchildren Phoebe, Julia Winnie, Paco Roo, and Captain Bleakley.
Julia was born to Arthur and Rebecca Bleakley in Augusta, GA, the third of four children.
Julia served as a Civilian Secretary in the US Army, stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, where she met her husband, Edward. They were married November 15, 1969, and settled in Dayton, Ohio, where they raised their family.
Julia volunteered in school libraries, chaperoned many field trips, and swim meets, where you could find her writing results on ribbons. Once her daughters were old enough, she went to work at the Beavercreek YMCA, where she was cherished by the early morning crowd.
Perhaps Julia’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. An avid supporter of all their activities, she attended dance recitals, soccer games, basketball games, volleyball games, winter guard, and choral concerts.
A funeral liturgy will be at 10 a.m. March 22 at St.Philip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill SC. There will be a reception after the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to St. Philip Neri Church, Fort Mill SC.
