Rock Hill, SC – Garris Leeman Coleman, 89, passed away on April 8, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on December 2, 1935, in Winnsboro, SC, to the late William and Velva Coleman. Garris was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Vivian Nunn Coleman, and seven siblings.
He is survived by his three daughters: Sherry Murray Lewis, Sonja Renee Hernandez, and Deborah Walker; his sister, Frances Sample; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Garris was a member of Catawba Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver for Inland Containers for 35 years. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
A service to honor Garris will be held on April 12, 2025, at 3 PM at Catawba Baptist Church, 1450 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730, with Rev. Steve Nunn officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at 2 PM. Military rites will be rendered at the graveside.
The family requests that memorials in Garris Coleman’s name be made to Providence Hospice, 500 Lakeshore Pkwy, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
