Rock Hill, SC – Nathan Isaac Rains, 83, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Westminster Presbyterian Chapel, 1330 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Reverend Don Gillespie officiating. Immediately after, the burial will take place in Laurelwood Cemetery, 143 Laurel St, Rock Hill, SC. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
Born in Rock Hill, SC, Mr. Rains was the son of the late Joseph N. S. Rains and the late Margaret Burrage Rains. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judith Moses Rains, and his sister, Deborah Lynn Rains.
Mr. Rains joined the United States Army as a teenager and took great pride in serving his country. He was retired from Celanese after many years of work as a mechanic. When he wasn’t working, he was involved with the VFW and the Elks Lodge. Mr. Rains and his wife loved to travel in their younger years. Often you would find him working in his garden when he was able. He loved to cook and he was best known for his chow-chow. Despite his skills in the kitchen, he loved to enjoy a meal out from time to time. Mr. Rains was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his siblings, Thomas Rains (Patricia), Gale Davis (Charlie), Rhonda Collins (Sonny), Ellen Dean, and Steve Rains (Cathy); and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Rains’s name to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1320 India Hook Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
