James Gaston Rockholt passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2025. He was born in Rock Hill on January 25, 1932 to Joseph Lynn Rockholt and Minnie Williford Rockholt.

Jim was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and in the first graduating class of York Technical College. He retired from the Bleachery of Rock Hill after 40 years of service. He was in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War 1952-1953.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elizabeth (Duvy) Nash Rockholt; his stepchildren, Beth Carter Melton (Wayne); Tommy Carter (Michelle); and Rick Carter (Kim); his beloved grandchildren, Justin, Laura, Allie, Hannah, Jenna, Whitney, and Anna Caroline, and seven great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Ann Rockholt Reeves (Buddy), his brother, Charlie Rockholt, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Jane, and his brothers, William, Johnnie, Harry, Oliver, Bobby, and Tommy; and by his first wife, Ruby Sligh Rockholt.

Jim was a loving and compassionate man who was well respected in his community.

At Jim’s request, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at Greene’s Northwest Chapel, Rock Hill, SC on Friday, June 27, 5:30-7:30 pm.
