Rock Hill, SC – David Stuart Dresner, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2025, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, SC.  His loss is heartbreaking for all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC.   The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

David was born on May 11, 1956, in Rock Hill, SC, to the late Harold Leon Dresner and Pearl Frank Dresner.  He attended grade school at Winthrop Training School before finishing his education through the Rock Hill School District.

In his younger days, David’s life was full of energy and ambition. He loved drag racing, playing the drums, and learning the ins and outs of the family pawn shop business — experiences that inspired him to open his own store, David’s Pawn on Cherry Road, which became a true Rock Hill staple.  His sharp wit, incredible memory, and gift for storytelling brought his adventures to life for anyone who listened.

In his later years, David embraced a slower pace by the beach, where he found joy as a devoted family man.  He enjoyed riding his golf cart, walking along the shoreline searching for shells and shark teeth, caring for his prized dream pace car, reminiscing with old friends, and cherishing time spent with his grandchildren.  Above all, he was a fierce protector who would go above and beyond for his wife, children, and the close friends he had cherished for a lifetime.

David is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Tamara Grant Dresner; his children, Jason Dresner (Teresa), Megan Dresner, Jared Dresner, and Hannah Dresner; his grandchildren, Morgan Lathan, Kaylea Sims, Audrey Dresner, Heath Dresner, and Asher Dresner; and his great-grandchildren, Waylon Lathan, Blakely Lathan, Jackson Sims, Landon Sims, and Colton Alverson.  He is also survived by his sister, Frances Liss (Ronnie), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joel Dresner, and his sister Janice Hayes.
