Leonard “Len” C. Ramsey, 60, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on July 25, 1965, to the late Jack Davis Ramsey Sr. and Bertha Mae Knight Ramsey, Len grew up in Rock Hill and graduated from Rock Hill High School. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps—a chapter of his life he held dear, filled with unbreakable bonds and stories that got better (and maybe a little bigger) every time he told them.
After his military service, Len worked as an electrical lineman, a job he took pride in—and one that gave him a second family in his crew. Whether on a pole or at a cookout, Len was the kind of guy you wanted around: dependable, funny, and always ready to lend a hand or a story.
Len had a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loved being outside in his tomato garden, cooking up something delicious, and making people laugh—usually loudest at his own jokes. He was a man who never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back (and probably a plate of food too).
He is remembered with deep love by his life partner, Debra Kay Rabe; his son, Landon Davis Ramsey, and his fiancée, Maggie Mae McGregor; his brother, Jack Davis Ramsey Jr.; his sister, Sheila Ramsey Tompkins; his nephew, Cole Tompkins; his niece, Madison Tompkins; and his loyal four-legged companion, Harvey.
He is reunited in peace with his parents; his sister, Kaye Ramsey Thompkins; his sister-in-law, Johanna Vanderweel Ramsey; and his beloved pet companion, Brady.
Len’s family invites friends to honor his memory by planting something, raising a glass, telling a good story, or making a donation to a cancer organization of your choice—just as he would’ve wanted.
