Rock Hill, SC – Agnes Miriam Boyce Powell (Aggie) went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 24, 2026, two weeks shy of her 99th birthday.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday September 29 at 2:00 PM at First ARP Church, 201 E. White Street, Rock Hill, S.C. Reverend Jon M. Oliphant and Dr. Robert J. Robinson will officiate.
The family will greet friends in the church parlor after the service. Burial will be private.
Born in Williamston, S.C., Aggie was the daughter of the late Arthur Franklin Boyce and Lois Massey Boyce. She is survived by her two children, Dr. Neal Powell (Betty) of Rock Hill, S.C. and Mimi Lundgren (George) of Lexington, S.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Lauren Taylor (Robert), Brad Powell, Hayley Evans (Clay), and Julie Rosemond (Chad), all of Greenville, S.C.; and Laura Johnston (Nick), and David Lundgren of Lexington, S.C. Also surviving are thirteen great-grandchildren as well as special family friend Frances Gaines. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Neal Powell and seven siblings.
Aggie was valedictorian of her class at Williamston High School. She graduated from Winthrop College with a degree in music and was the first music teacher in the Rock Hill public schools. A faithful member of First ARP Church for 77 years, Aggie founded the church kindergarten that still exists today. She served as a youth group and circle leader and was a member of many committees. She was active in the Junior Welfare League, Rock Hill Debutante Club, Glencairn Garden Club and Tuesday Book Club. She was a leader in the Bible Study Fellowship.
Aggie will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, joyful spirit, and love for others. Most of all, she had a deep faith and trust in God and leaves a lasting legacy for her family.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the many caregivers who so lovingly attended her: Frances, Margaret, Dakayla, Claudine, Teresa, Lesia, Tasha, Cynthia, Erinee, and Linda.
