Rock Hill, SC – Annie Almeda Duncan Stearns, 87, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 234 E. Main Street, Rock Hill at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 8, 2023. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Mrs. Stearns was born in McMinnville, Tennessee to the late Thomas C. Duncan and the late Frances Laws Duncan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stearns was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Mark Thorton Stearns, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Mrs. Stearns attended Middle Tennessee State University and then became a flight attendant where she met the love of her life, Mark T. Stearns who was a pilot with Eastern Airlines. She worked at Raytheon in military contracts. She loved playing bridge, tending to her beautiful gardens, volunteering at Piedmont Medical Center, and singing anything from hymns to tunes from musicals. Her sense of humor could make anyone smile. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rock Hill.
Mrs. Stearns is survived by her two children, Mark (Sheri) Stearns of McKinney, Texas, and Cynthia (Gary) Johnson of Rock Hill; her grandchildren, Matt (Jordan) Johnson, Anna (Spencer) Mehr, Heather Stearns (fiancé, Austin Hisler), and Tyler Stearns.
