Barbara Ellen Freiberger of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Hartford CT., the daughter of the late Hyman Edward & Libby Miller Greenberg. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Gerald Arthur Greenberg & her son Andrew David Freiberger.
Mrs. Freiberger is survived by her husband, Fred G. Freiberger of Rock Hill, SC and two daughters, Laurie Heyman of California, and Erika Freiberger (Matthew Siegler, son in law) of Pennsylvania., five grandchildren Nick Freiberger (Kelsey Freiberger), Mica Siegler, Zane Heyman, Liam Heyman and Gray Siegler and a great grandson, Jace Freiberger.
Mrs. Freiberger graduated from Bloomfield High School and Morse College in Hartford, CT. She was employed as a secretary by Aetna Life and Casualty Company in Hartford for many years. After her marriage, she moved to Fairfax, County, VA., where she was a stay at home Mom, active in PTA, Brownies and later as a cub scout den mother. She eventually reentered the work force as a customer service representative with USAA.
A new job took Fred to Lake Wylie, SC., where they lived for 17 years before retiring to Park Point Village in Rock Hill, SC in 2012.
Mrs. Freiberger always enjoyed cooking, and after retirement, taking up bread baking and jam making which she shared with friends and family.
Mrs. Freiberger will be buried at John Hay Memorial Park in Hartford, CT. Donations may be sent to Temple Emanuel, P.O. Box 550085, Gastonia, NC 28055-0085 and/or Hospice and Community Care, 2275 India Hook Rd. Rock Hill SC 29732.
