Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Barbara Evans Wright, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
A native of Rock Hill, Barbara was a daughter of the late Albert Lee Evans Sr. and the late Kathryn Pope Bauknight. Barbara is preceded in death by the love of her life, Alan Lee Wright. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Albert Lee “Sonny” Evans Jr. and her sister, Peggy Evans Baskin. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and cherished friend. Anyone who truly knew Barbara loved her!
Barbara worked for many years at the law firm of Kennedy, Covington, Lobdell & Hickman, as receptionist and legal assistant, and then, worked with Hank Sipe at Sipe Law Firm, as office administrator, prior to her retirement in 2024. She especially enjoyed gardening, flowers in any form, sewing, shopping, being with her friends and family, and eating out.
Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter, Anne-Marie Payne; stepchildren, Michael Lee Wright; Robert (Bobby) Alan Wright (Mindi); Kimberly Dawn Wright Brown (Kevin); her sister, Gail Evans Jeffords; niece, Angela Jeffords (Tim); sister-in-law, Brenda Gail Wright Devinney; sister-in-law, Mickie J. Wright; also, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Barbara is also survived by her bonus son, Joseph Wesley Chitwood; bonus grandsons, Nicholas Ron Heisler and Wesley Parks Chitwood; bonus family members, Brandy Heisler, Ron Heisler (Kelly), Doris Ludlam Chitwood, Betty and Frank Granger, Mary and David Lozner, and Lisa Bell, to name a few.
A true Southern Belle, Barbara will forever be loved and remembered by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
