Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Barney W. Craddock, 72, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. Barney was born in Danbury, NC, and was the son of Hallie Marie Mabe Craddock and the late Malvin “Mal” Clifford Craddock.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 11-12:30 pm at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly, 5766 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie SC 29710. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm with Pastor Lewis Gunn officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Barney was a veteran in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War Infantry Americal Division. Barney retired in 2016 from Duke Power after 43 years of service where he worked as a Nuclear Production Supervisor. He was a member of Lake Wylie Christian Assembly and was a strong believer in his faith who loved witnessing to others.
Barney had a tremendous wit and loved making people laugh. He enjoyed the outdoors, carpentry, fishing and gardening. He was known to many as the “Tomato Man.” His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a proud father and grandfather and loved his family dearly.
In addition to his mother, Hallie Marie Craddock, Barney is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Craddock; his children, Michael Craddock (Laura) of Columbia, SC; Wayne Estes; Tracey Burris (Chris) all of Rock Hill; Hope Duyn (Levi) of Venice, FL and Rebekah Means of Rock Hill; his brothers, Clifford Craddock (Cathy) and Ronnie Craddock (Ellie) and his sister, Donna Shleton (Barry) all of Sandy Ridge, NC and his sister, Wanda East (Mike) of Walnut Cove, NC; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
