Betty Angeline Gleason (Bobbi), age 96, passed peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
She was born on April 13, 1929, the seventh of eight children, to Sydney and Clara (Sharp) Farrer. A primary resident of Spring Lake, Michigan, she held a deep and abiding love for the community.
Active throughout her life, Bobbi was an athlete at heart. She began as a runner, later transitioning to walking, spending countless hours covering multiple miles on foot. On her 70th birthday, she received a pair of roller blades, which she embraced with enthusiasm and used often, delighting those who saw her gliding along with confidence and determination. She loved the phrase, “Not all who wander are lost, ” a sentiment that reflected both her love of movement and her spirit.
For more than thirty years, Bobbi worked at The Country House, a high-end apparel store in Grand Haven, Michigan, where she became a trusted style advisor to generations of loyal customers. Long before fashion advice became entertainment, she was known for her honest, witty guidance-especially her sought-after opinions on “what not to wear.”
Beginning in 1986, one year after the birth of their first grandchild, she and Bill purchased a second home and became winter residents of Jupiter, FL. There, they enjoyed precious time with their sons, daughter, and growing family, while continuing to spend summers in Spring Lake, a cherished seasonal rhythm they maintained for decades.
A longtime member of Spring Lake Baptist Church, her faith was an important part of her life. In June of 2021, she made the difficult but meaningful decision to leave Michigan to be near her daughter and family in Lake Wylie, SC. There, Bobbi quickly formed deep friendships and found another church she dearly loved, Lake Wylie Community Church. She touched the lives of everyone she met and left her family and new friends with four and a half years of treasured memories.
She was the last surviving sibling of the Farrer family; Mary Zimmerman, Joan Ruiter, Jack Farrer, Edna Bisaky, Pauline Pravda, Lois Coston and Jeanne Farrer-a quiet testament to her strength and resilience. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William A. Gleason. and by her cherished sons, Scott W. Gleason and Matthew D. Gleason, losses she carried with grace and dignity.
Bobbi was witty, sassy, spunky, and a fiercely loyal confidant to many who sought her wisdom and humor. She will be forever remembered for her warmth, honesty, humor, and the genuine care she showed to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer/Edward Douse; her granddaughter, Hailey/David Hodges; her grandson, Hunter Douse; and her great-grandchildren, Millicent and Elliot Hodges.
A private memorial will be held in June 2026 when the family returns to MI.
Her family would like to thank Agape Care Group and Kempton of Rock Hill, SC Assisted Living Community for their kindness, compassion and unwavering support.
Arrangements entrusted to Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC.
