Rock Hill – Betty Ann Stanley Conner passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.

Born November 5, 1932 in Marion, South Carolina to Lawerance Merriman Stanley and Irene Catoe Stanley.  Betty was the youngest of six children.  Her dear sister, Lib, was the eldest and was like a mother to Betty Ann.  Lib was followed by her four brothers, L.M., Dick, Jule, and Hubert whom Betty adored and desperately tried to keep up with. The family lived in Conway, South Carolina.

Betty met Robert A. Conner while attending Winthrop and they married in 1953.  They were married 47 years and had four children – Lynn, Larry, Cindy, and Liz.

Betty majored in Education and served the Rock Hill School District as a teacher and then a principal.  Upon her “retirement” she worked as the Director of Macfeat Early Childhood Laboratory for seven years.  She also served as Guardian Ad Litem serving as a representative for children in crisis.

Betty was an active member of Mount Holly United Methodist Church serving many years in the infant Sunday School class, COAP and many other church committees.  She also accompanied the youth to Lake City Salkehatchie camp.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her children, Lynn, Larry, and Liz; and her companion, Bobby Lineberger.

Services for Betty will be held 2:30 pm, Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Mount Holly Methodist Church, 1996 Mount Holly Road with Reverend Wayne Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Cindy; her daughter-in-law and bonus son-in-law, Debi and Bob Phillips; her seven grandchildren, whom she spoiled unapologetically; and her fourteen great-grandchildren.
