Brent Alan Shelton of Rock Hill, SC passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Brent was born January 26, 1951 in Evanston, IL to Don C. and Betty Ellen (Fletcher) Shelton and was raised in Decatur, IL. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Markarian). They shared forty-six wonderful years together. He was a loving father to his daughter. He spent over 30 years as a diesel mechanic for Cummins Atlantic.
Brent is also survived by his daughter, Sarah Jane Whinghter (Daniel) of Singleton, Western Australia, Australia; three grandchildren, James, Rosemary, and George Whinghter of Singleton, Western Australia, Australia; two brothers, Dirk Shelton (Beverly), and Scott Shelton, and a sister, Sally Torrens (Scott).
Brent loved life. 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” is a special verse for the family and reflects Brent’s life as one of purpose, perseverance, and steadfast dedication to his beliefs.
Memorials may be directed to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association at https://cmtausa.org, or a charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
There will be a private memorial planned for his friends and family. Brent Alan Shelton leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and adventure, and his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
