Rock Hill, SC–Bruce D. Favors, age 80, died peacefully at home on May 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. It was with great sadness that they bid farewell to Bruce after a prolonged health battle.
Born on April 10, 1945 and raised in Muncie, Indiana, Bruce grew up with his parents, Willard and Esther Favors, and his sister, Marsha Abbott, of Gaston, IN, all of whom preceded Bruce in death.
In 1967, Bruce met his soulmate and wife, Donna McGowan, with whom he shared 57 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love and laughter. Together, they built a beautiful life. They were blessed with five children, one of whom passed away after losing her battle with cancer at age 27, Wendy Morsberger of Roebuck, SC. His other children are living legacies of Bruce’s spirit of love and acceptance: Leslie Joseph (Tommy) of Marion, IN; Laura Arthur of West Bloomfield, MI; Julie Quick (Melissa) of Indian Trail, NC; Bruce “Kyle” Favors (Ronda), of Gray Court, SC; and the grandchild they raised, Adam Favors of Chicago, IL. His heart lives on in each of his beloved grandchildren, including Cassie Cameron (Sean) of Greer, SC; Candace Holliday of Gray Court, SC; Savannah Bridges (London) of Union County, NM; Charlie Bridges of Trinidad, CO; Zachary Arthur (Max) of Wayne, MI; Brendan Arthur (Anastasia) of Waterford, MI; Chloe Arthur of West Bloomfield, MI; Katherine Cox of Muncie, IN; Chelsea Semilla (Richard) of Gaston, IN; Tyler Joseph (Destinee) of Marion, IN, Kirsten Carrion of Gaston City, IN; Dylan Joseph of Upland, IN; Lavonte Cox (Natalya) of Athens OH; Kenzell and Kamari Joseph of Upland, IN; and David Cameron of Greer, SC and his eleven additional great grandkids!
Professionally, Bruce was a respected member of the (Metal) Heat Treating Community. He received multiple machine patents and was recognized as an innovator, a Thought Leader, and a trusted subject matter expert. As was true in his personal life, Bruce had an exceptional talent for fixing anything and everything, a trait that endeared him to all who knew him. In 1998, with his son, Kyle, and wife, Donna, Bruce founded Heat Treating Services Unlimited, Inc. (HTSU) to provide products and “fix it” services to the Heat Treating Industry. HTSU continues to serve the industry today under the leadership of Kyle Favors.
Although his personal interests were diverse–including boating, fishing, and fixing and painting cars–Bruce’s true passion and priority was always his family. He was a fiercely loyal man with an unparalleled work ethic. He set a standard of love, loyalty, and responsibility that shaped the lives and values of his entire family. Bruce will be remembered for his intelligence, wit, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know him.
In celebration of the life and legacy of Bruce D. Favors, a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 3 p.m. preceded by visitation from 2-3 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel in Rock Hill, SC, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732.
