Carol Beth King Westmoreland passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 21, 2026. She was surrounded by family when she went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Carol was born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was the second child of William Luther King and Dorothy Beckham King.
On June 23,1962, she married the late Fred Robert Westmoreland, Sr.
Together, they proudly raised four children: Robert Westmoreland (Leslie), Jay Westmoreland (Denise), Beth Wilson (Stephen) and Doug Westmoreland (Melanie) all of Rock Hill.
In addition to her children, Carol is survived by her nine grandchildren: Lindsey Bullard (Travis), Taylor Jackson (Brian), Fuller Wilson (Brooke), Copeland Westmoreland (Madison), Wes Wilson, Cooper Westmoreland, Carson Westmoreland, (Carleigh) Honley Wilson and Sara Beth Westmoreland: and 6 great grandchildren: Hayes Bullard, Avery Wilson, Brooks Jackson, Tucker Westmoreland, Boyd Jackson, Marshall Wilson and baby Maebry Bullard coming in October.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Prince (Bill), brother-in-law, Andy Westmoreland (May May), and sister-in-law, Genora Westmoreland.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Michael Wayne King, Vernon Randolph King, nephew, Merritt King and niece, Sarah Allison King.
Carol grew up in Rock Hill and graduated from Rock Hill High School. She was a cheerleader for the Bearcats and thoroughly enjoyed her high school years. She met Fred, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, and after dating four years, they were married June 23, 1962 at White Street Baptist Church where she had grown up attending. After they were married, Carol and Fred became members of Eastview Baptist Church, where they raised their four children and faithfully attended for many years. Later, Carol and Fred joined First Baptist Church, Rock Hill where she was also a member of Gene Williams Sunday School class.
Carol worked for many years doing secretarial work at various places: Bowater, Eastview Baptist (preschool teacher), Dr. McIntosh Dentistry, Rock Hill Pediatrics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Rock Hill.
Her love for her family was immeasurable. When her first grandchild was born, she made the decision to leave her job and dedicate herself full time to being Mimi. She went on to lovingly care for all nine of her grandchildren until they reached school age.
Carol felt so blessed by her church family and good friends, and she often shared how much they have meant to her through the years.
She was deeply thankful for her salvation and often proclaimed His love, firmly believing that “Even though I am 82, He still loves me and calls me His child.”
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Denise Browning, Lynn Dawson, Charlene Patterson, and Tamanther Douglas for the loving kindness and exceptional care shown to our mom during her long illness. The family would also like to thank Eddie Burton and Bree Ashley with Rock Hill Hospice and Community Care for taking such good care of our mom during her illness.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 6:00-7:30 pm. at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC and at other times at the home of Carol Westmoreland.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill. Burial will follow at Eastview Baptist Church, 1430 Gordon Road, Rock Hill, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, Rock Hill or Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill in memory of Carol K. Westmoreland.
