Rock Hill, SC – Carole Yvonne Hinson Maskus passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
Yvonne was born in Boone, NC on August 15, 1938. She is preceded in death by her father, Van Hinson; her mother, Kate Townsend Hinson and her husband, Paul Maskus.
Yvonne graduated from Appalachian State University. In years later, she earned her degree in Psychology from Winthrop University.
Yvonne was a teacher at York Technical College and appointed as Dean of the Business Department where she retired after more than 25 years. After retiring to the mountains of North Carolina, she taught psychology at Lees-McRae College.
Yvonne loved all she worked with, all of which she called friends. She loved her wonderful neighborhood here in Rock Hill and spent her last years with those loving friends.
Her love for all animals was always apparent as well as her master gardening skills. With many accomplishments in her life, her greatest was being the wonderful, loving mother that she was all her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathie Vaughn Reid; her son in law, Bill Reid; her granddaughter, Miranda Reid and her beloved dog, Dixie.
A private ceremony will be at Grace Lutheran Church in Boone, NC and a Celebration of Life will be announced in early Spring.
