Charles William Washburn (Chuck), of Rock Hill, SC, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Chuck was born May 22, 1939, in Hill City, MN to the late William Henry Washburn and Margaret Elizabeth Dutton. Chuck graduated from High School in Big Fork, MN and enlisted in the US Army where he was a helicopter mechanic. He was first stationed in North Korea then in Fort Benning, GA where he met the love of his life, Shirley Jo Howard. Chuck and Shirley were married in Phenix City, AL. The Washburns then began their family life in Grand Rapids, MN before returning to the south and settling in Rock Hill, SC.
Chuck was a supervisor for Bowater in Rock Hill, SC for over 30 years and worked as a courier until he retired. He was a three-time commander for Post 34 of the American Legion as well as a member of the Honor Guard. He was also a member of the VFW.
Chuck is survived by his two children, Debi Washburn-Sykes and husband Bill and Charles Timothy Washburn; five grandchildren, Marc Odum and wife Shayla, Kareem Baheri, Christopher Chandler and wife Christine, Timothy Washburn and wife Stephanie, and Joshua Washburn; and eleven great-grandchildren, Chandler, Alexis, Evan, Lillian, Ashton, Jayden, Karter, Camden, Bethany, Anthony, and Pauly; one great-great-grandchild, Myles.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Laurelwood Cemetery at 143 Laurel Street, Rock Hill, SC. All family is expected. All friends are welcomed.
