Edgemoor, SC – Clyde Melvin Mitchell, 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Rock Hill Post Acute Care Center.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 pm-5:00 pm on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. The service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Mount Holly Methodist Church, 1996 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730, with Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.
Born in Edgemoor, SC, Clyde was the son of the late Melvin Stead Mitchell and the late Lelia Sanders Mitchell. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Faye Faulkenberry and his great-granddaughter, Ally Kate Blackwelder. He was retired from the Rock Hill School District following many years of service in Operations.
Clyde was a Mason with the Richburg Lodge #89, a Shriner, and community volunteer in several capacities. He enjoyed being outside, hunting and fishing. Clyde was a life-long member of Mount Holly Methodist Church in Rock Hill.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Martha Ashcraft Mitchell; his two sons, Brian Mitchell (Kelly) and Kevin Mitchell; three grandchildren, Wil Blackwelder (Megan), Katie Staub (Dylan), and Cameron Mitchell; and his six great-grandchildren, Grady Blackwelder, Ella Blackwelder, Ben Blackwelder, Madeleine Blackwelder, Henry Staub and Levi Staub.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Clyde’s name to the Richburg Lodge #89, 1225 Peden Bridge Road, Chester, SC 29706, Mount Holly Methodist Church, 1996 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730, or to Providence Hospice, 500 Lakeshore Parkway, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
