Fort Mill, SC – Connie Jo Andrews, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center-Fort Mill.
Mrs. Andrews was born on December 10, 1937, to the late James Henry Dooley and the late Halcie Dooley in Columbus, Indiana. She was a graduate of Cocoa High School in Florida and Stetson University in Deland, FL. Mrs. Andrews was the proud Army wife of LTC (ret) Raymond Gilbert Andrews. An accomplished pianist, she also supported Ray as his accompanist at numerous churches he served as minister of music, wherever they were stationed. After Ray retired from music ministry, Mrs. Andrews was heavily involved in the music and nursery ministries at First Baptist North Spartanburg. After raising her four children, Mrs. Andrews went to work as an elementary school teacher, where she taught for over 20 years. She loved the beach, Clemson football and especially her dogs. Mrs. Andrews loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very deeply and always prioritized spending time with them. She would even make the special effort to travel abroad to visit family members that were stationed across the world serving their country in the U.S. military.
Mrs. Andrews is survived by her children, Rachel Kim Childress (Franklin), Scott Kevin Andrews (Eva) and Keith Jared Andrews (Monica); her sister, Linda Louise Whitmire (Jim); and grandchildren, Caroline Marie Melancon, Sydney Elaine Andrews, Emily Grace Andrews, Elizabeth Anne Andrews, Mary Catherine Andrews, William Daniel Andrews and Jennifer Findlay Andrews; and great-grandchildren, Atticus Fuller Melancon and Calliope Maeve Melancon. Mrs. Andrews is preceded in death by her late parents, her husband of 55 years, LTC (ret) Raymond Gilbert Andrews, her son, Darryl Glenn Andrews, siblings, Harry Dooley, Nelda Dooley, Juanita Coles and Kenneth Dooley.
A funeral service will be held at West End Baptist Church, 1727 McConnells Hwy, Rock Hill, SC 29732 at 3:30 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2024. The family will receive visitors beginning at 2:30 PM at the church. Burial next to her husband will take place at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.
