ROCK HILL – Dane Hoover, 72, passed away on January 28, 2023 with his loving wife, Janice Hoover, by his side.
Dane was born on February 25, 1950 in New York City to Dick (Richard, deceased in 1985) and Pat (Ellen Elizabeth Vautier, deceased in 1974) Hoover. As a child, his family transferred around the country in the military before he graduated from high school in Derry, New Hampshire. Dane enlisted in the Marines right out of high school. There his love for aviation commenced. He became an aircrew and an engine specialist for 9 years serving our country faithfully. Dane joined General Electric International Field Service Engineering as a Technical Representative working with both foreign and US Military units stationed overseas. Over a 30 year period, he worked or lived in 78 different countries finally retiring from General Electric out of Paris, France.
Dane will be remembered as a man of honor. A Christian who loved and served God unconditionally. A chef who could knock your socks off with one bite. A husband who devoted his life to loving and spoiling his wife. A farmer who worked hard and long hours. A father and a grandfather who loved with all he had.
Dane is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Paul Hoover (2011) and Thomas Hoover (2006).
Dane is survived by his loving wife, Janice Hoover; his brother, Richard Hoover (Gracie); five children, Theresa Phillips (Gary), Dane Hoover, Jr. (Tracey), Ritchie Hoover (Cindy), Dana Littlejohn (Mike), and Brittany Hunsinger (Jason); 14 grandchildren, Jacque, Jennifer, Dane, Erick, Faith, Grace, Austin, Allison, Joseph, Carlye, Landyn, Yates, Ariana, and Asher; and two great-grandchildren, Elena and Jaxson.
Thursday, February 2, 2023, we celebrate his life by remembering all the love and memories we had the opportunity to share with Dane throughout his 72 years of life. Visitation will take place from 12:00-1:30 P.M. and the Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 P.M. Both will be held at Grace Chapel Baptist, 475 S. Shiloh Rd, York, SC 29745.
