Darlene Mae Bennett, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 2, 2026 surrounded by her Family. She was born in Elmira NY on May 20, 1947, and lived a life defined by love, faith, and devotion to her family.
Darlene was preceded in death by her Father Melvin Bennett and Mother Ruth Cooper. Her Sister’s Donna (Jack) Bauman and Debbie (Seidel) Scism And her Son Earl K. Plate
She is survived by her son and daughter in law Frank (Jessica) Plate, daughter Brenda Plate. Sister Kathy (Scott) Dutcher. Her grandchildren Kaylanna and Giovanni Plate, Taylor Sanderson, Alex Plate, Isabelle Plate-Sorrells and Charlotte Plate-Sorrells.
Darlene devoted her life to her church and her unwavering faith in God, which guided her every step and shaped the way she cared for others. She was a woman of deep belief, kindness, and compassion, always putting the needs of others before her own. While Darlene was occasionally misunderstood by those who didn’t know her well, those closest to her knew the truth: her heart was always in the right place. She lived with a constant, earnest desire to do the right thing, lead with kindness, and put the needs of others before her own.
She had a true passion for painting, finding joy and peace in expressing herself through art. She love painting landscapes and the occasional portrait. She was a lover of animals and had a soft spot in her heart for all her furry friends. She cherished traveling, especially visits to Niagara Falls, and treasured the many family vacations spent together to Virginia and Myrtle beach. These moments created lasting memories of laughter and fun that her loved ones will carry with them always.
Above all, Darlene loved her family deeply. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she found immense happiness in being a part of their lives. Always so proud of them and their accomplishments.
Darlene’s legacy is one of love, faith, family and selflessness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the beautiful moments she helped create throughout her life.

No services will be held at this time. Family will have a Celebration of life memorial at a later date
