Born on August 4, 1952, in Camp Gordon, Augusta, GA, Debby spent her formative years in the picturesque towns of Greenville and Seneca, SC, where her passion for life and creativity began to flourish.
Debby was the cherished daughter of Towns C. Ramey Jr. and Betty Adair Ramey, both of whom preceded her in death. As a bright and driven individual, she graduated from Winthrop College with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in English, equipping her with the tools she would later use to express her love for writing and music.
Throughout her professional journey, Debby made a significant impact in the world of journalism and music. Early in her career, she worked at The Weekly Newspapers, where her talents shone through in typesetting and page layout. She subsequently joined The Fort Mill Times, where her roles expanded to include layout, ad sales, and a beloved music column that featured interviews and reviews of national artists. Debby’s dedication to her craft saw her contribute to Break Magazine of The Charlotte Observer and the Night Sounds column at the Rock Hill Herald, where she passionately wrote about music for many years. Her work not only entertained but also fostered connections with many artists, as she assisted them with promotional materials and booking shows, leaving a legacy of warmth and camaraderie in her wake.
Outside of her professional achievements, Debby was a woman of diverse interests and talents. She had a profound love for music, especially the timeless works of The Beatles, which often served as a soundtrack to her life. Her passions extended to books, writing, crafting, and gardening, where she found joy in nurturing both plants and her creativity.
Debby is survived by her loving husband, Robert A. Jennings; her devoted son, Robert P. Jennings; and her dear sister, Beth Ramey Keaton, and her husband Rickey. Together, they will carry forward her memory, forever honoring her spirit and the love she shared with them.
