Rock Hill, SC – Derek Lee Clark, born April 1, 1967, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 23, 2024, due to natural causes. He was 57 years old.
Derek was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Lee Clark Jr. and Nedra Hulsey Clark of Kershaw, SC. He is survived by his beloved son, Alexander Lee Clark (Jaquelinne Hernandez) of Tega Cay, SC; his brother, Darby Clark of Lancaster, SC; his special friend, Sherry East of Rock Hill; longtime family friend, Jeanne Garrick; and many other close friends who will miss him deeply.
Derek was a skilled and hardworking individual, earning a degree in Industrial Maintenance from York Technical College. He had a diverse career, working in various roles that allowed him to use his hands and his technical knowledge to fix and maintain things. He was always willing to lend a hand and share his expertise with others.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Derek had a rich and varied life filled with passions and interests. He often spoke fondly of his mission trip to Haiti, his time as a SCUBA Dive Master, and his role as a Firearm Instructor. A lifelong member of the NRA, Derek was also a proud member of the Sugar Creek Amateur Radio Society, where he held the callsign KD4TRL. He was an avid supporter of scouting and served as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 132 at Neely’s Creek ARP Church, where his son, Alex earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Derek treasured the time he spent in scouting, particularly the adventures he shared with Alex. He enjoyed many simple pleasures, from playing a mean game of putt-putt, to attending parades, visiting the beach, and a fondness for otters. Derek will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Derek’s life and friends and family are invited to attend and share in remembrance. The service will be held on Sunday, 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Reverend Steve Pittman, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 1 pm. Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather for a reception at Casa Tequila Mexican Grill located at 2215 India Hook Rd Rock Hill, SC 29732
Derek’s life was one of service, adventure, and love, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
