Mr. Derek Turner, 91, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 3pm at Greene Funeral Home 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Born in Stockport, England, Mr. Turner was the son of the late Ernest Turner and the late Nellie Whittaker Turner. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Barbara Edwards Turner. Mr. Turner enjoyed listening to his pre-WWII Jazz Music. He was a Veteran of the British Army. He enjoyed watching sports, soccer being his most favored, as well as painting, fishing, cycling, tennis and bowling. He was an avid reader. Mr. Turner loved antique cars and his Manchester United soccer team. He was the President of Zenith Engraving Co. in Chester, SC, from which he retired after 30 years. He will forever be loved and remembered by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.
Surviving are his daughter, Janet Jenkins; his sons, Raymond Scott Turner (Arlene), and Steven Turner (Sally); his brothers, Keith Turner and family, and Graham Turner and family, both from England; his grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez, Daniel Betz, Kathryn Turner, Alex Turner, and Kristin Turner; and great grandchildren, Henry Betz, Lucas Betz and Alice Martinez.
As an Alzheimer’s caregiver, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Turner’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Ste 1100, Chicago, IL 60611-1676
