Donald Eugene Newell III “Donnie”, 51, of Rock Hill, SC peacefully passed away at home in the early morning hours of Monday, October 27, 2025.
Donnie had an energetic and vibrant personality that allowed him to enjoy a variety of things, he had a love for life and adventure. He enjoyed many activities, especially those that involved a bit of friendly competition. Amongst his favorite over the years were martial arts, softball, bowling, golf, shooting pool, and games of Texas Hold ‘Em.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Starnes Newell; his daughter Miranda Wood (Trey), and his beloved 2-year-old granddaughter Lily Wood, who had him wrapped around her tiny finger. Also surviving are his mother, Robin Epps (Roy); his father, Donald Eugene Newell Jr. (Robin); his brothers Nicholas Newell (Erin), Dubreil Epps (Meredith), and Bradley Newell, and his sisters Melanie Epps (Will) and Brittany Newell. Donnie was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Donald is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald Eugene Newell Sr., and Lucille Newell; as well as his maternal grandparents, Edward B. Hinson and Ruby Black Hinson.
Family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Faith Family Christian Center, 3483 Homestead Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with private family burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.
