With deep sadness, the family of Don Badinski announces his passing in Rock Hill, South Carolina on May 17, 2026, at the age of 55 surrounded by those who loved him most.
Don was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Laura Badinski, and a proud and loving father to Brandon and Megan Badinski. Don and Laura spent a wonderful 26 years together in Rock Hill following a marriage on September 4, 1999. Family was paramount in Don’s life, and he greatly treasured the time he spent with his best friends. Whether sharing conversations, relaxing together at home, beating everyone at pub trivia, or shuffling cards for rummy, Don was elated in simply being surrounded by his biggest fans. Don was an inimitable, intelligent force who was fiercely competitive but always gracious in defeat.
Known for his dry wit and steady, caring presence, Don enjoyed spending his free time reading and was an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers. He looked forward to football season each year and reveled in the fervor of the sport alongside family and friends. He also loved listening to Van Halen while preparing food for the guests he welcomed into the Badinski home. Whether it was during a Disney honeymoon, Thanksgiving trip to Florida, cruise to the Bahamas, or lazy Sunday evening on the couch, Don appreciated life’s simple moments and created lasting memories through his quiet kindness, loyalty, and sense of humor.
Those who knew Don will remember him as someone who cared deeply for the people around him. He was extremely dependable, consistently compassionate, and always willing to offer support, encouragement, or advice on what to do when the dishwasher wouldn’t turn on (it’s the breaker). His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and the bond he shared with them will forever remain a cherished part of his legacy. Throughout his life, Don ensured that his children had a protector by their side, a shoulder to lean on for any advice, and a best friend to look up to as they grew into adults and moved away from home.
Don is survived by his wife, Laura (Rock Hill, SC); his children, Brandon (age 24; Washington, D.C.) and Megan (age 23; Rock Hill, SC); and extended family members and friends up and down the East Coast who will miss him dearly.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial in Don’s honor will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 2:00pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will welcome visitors prior to the service from 1:00pm – 1:45pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your charity of choice in Don’s name.
