On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at age 90, Dorcas Culp Hinson went peacefully to be with the Lord.

Dorcas was born in Charlotte, NC on July 11, 1932, the first daughter of Ammie Andrews & Jesse Boyd Culp Sr. She grew up in Mecklenburg County and enjoyed being near Lake Wylie. Early summers were spent at the Observer Fresh Air Camp where her father worked, and later at the family’s river cabin. She also lived in Atlanta and Charlotte before eventually moving to Rock Hill, SC with her late husband, James Hinson.

Dorcas retired from Southern Bell in 1983 with 31 years of service. Shortly after retiring she started her own catering business and spent years making other peoples special occasions more beautiful. Dorcas was a member of the Piedmont Medical Auxiliary and enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Club. She was active in the community, enjoying church, golf, travel and spending time with friends and family.

Dorcas is survived by her sister, Lessie Culp Phillips, her brother, Jesse Culp Jr., her nephews Wendel Phillips and family, Stan Phillips and family and her stepdaughter, Pam Hinson along with many loved friends.

A ceremony will be held in the memorial garden at the First ARP Church in RockHill, SC at 2:00 on May 5th, 2023 followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:15 until

4:00.
