Rock Hill, SC – Dr. Robert Michael Sweet, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

Robert Michael Sweet was born on March 7, 1943, to the late James Holman Sweet and Gladys Rebecca Edens Sweet, in Greenville, SC.  Robert had a distinguished educational background.  He first graduated from Easley High School and went on to attain a B.S. from Clemson University, with suma cum laude honors.  He later attained his D.M.D. and M.D. with certifications in Dentistry, Oral Medicine, ENT, and Plastic Surgery.  He utilized all of these degrees in his work life, most recently as a Plastic Surgeon in Rock Hill.

In addition to his impressive educational background and medical career, Dr. Robert Sweet served his country as a member of the United States military for a total of 37 years.  As a retired Colonel, he served in the United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, and the United States Air Force.  During his time in the service, he experienced both the Vietnam War and the Gulf War.  Dr. Sweet was very involved with veteran organizations and held a variety of positions in his affiliated groups.  The respected organizations include: American Legion (serving as Area Commander), Forty and Eight, “VFW” Veterans of Foreign Wars (serving as Commander), Marine Corps League, and York County Veterans Advisory Council.

Dr. Sweet is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Sweet; his sons, Michael Paul Sweet (Lisa), Kristopher Jason Sweet (Lori), and Patrick Neil Sweet (Crystal); his sister, Norma Eckley; his brother, Neil Forte; his grandchildren, Courtney Evans (Zach), Kayla Schoener (Zach), Alex Sweet, Anna Sweet, Kayce Sweet, Emory Sweet, and Cooper Sweet; and his five great-grandchildren.

Dr. Sweet was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Pamela Sowell.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.  A memorial service will follow the visitation, and be held at 11:00 AM, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.  An inurnment will follow the service and begin at 2:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229.
