Edith Low (Carver), age 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She was a daughter of the late Cameron and Sally McLean of Wilmington, NC.
Edie Low spent 40 years as a writer, earning 16 national and 6 NC state awards for her work. She also wrote 2 books. She was particularly proud when Knight-Ridder, owner of The Charlotte News and The Charlotte Observer, syndicated her work in 204 American newspapers.
Her unshakeable faith was one of her strong points. A member of Northside Baptist Church, she worked 9 years in the church office after retirement from the Charlotte News until her health forced her to retire at 79.
Her love of family was her passion.
Edie is survived by three children: Cameron, Heidi and McLean. Five grandchildren: Scott, Andrew, Connor, Kayla, and Tay. One great grandchild Hudson.
Edie was predeceased by husbands Major James Edgar Low (1976) and Capt. Richard Warner Carver (2017).
A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home following the service.
