Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Elizabeth Gantt Covington, 98, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Rev. Jamie Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 am at the funeral home.
Born in Springfield, SC, Mrs. Covington was the daughter of the late Wade Hampton Gantt and Mary Williams Gantt. She worked for many years as a Spinner in the textile industry at the Bleachery and Celanese. During World War II, Mrs. Covington worked in the Shell Plant on Westinghouse Boulevard, assisting in the war effort. She was a wonderful cook and loving mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Covington was the oldest member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Covington was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Paul Clyde Covington. She is survived by her two sons, Paul Covington, Jr. (Deborah) of Columbia, SC and Gary Covington (Cathy) of Rock Hill; three grandsons, Todd, Michael and Gary Covington and five great-grandchildren, with an additional one due soon. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jeff Covington.
Special thanks to the staff at the Rock Hill Grove for their loving care during her residency. She treasured the many friendships she made while living there.
