Elizabeth Pursley Barber, lovingly known as Beth, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 76. Born on April 23, 1949, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Beth remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life.
Beth was a devoted mother, cousin, and proud “Grammy” to her four grandsons, who were the light of her life. Her deep love for her family was evident in everything she did, and she always found ways to show her care—whether through a heartfelt conversation, a warm meal, or one of her handmade quilts.
Over the years, Beth wore many hats. She worked as a dog groomer, a secretary, and, most meaningfully, as a social worker—a role in which she touched countless lives with compassion and strength. Her wisdom, often shared (sometimes whether you asked for it or not!), made her a steady and trusted guide for her children and those close to her.
Beth was a talented quilter and seamstress, crafting cozy blankets that will continue to bring comfort to those she loved. Her cooking, much like her mother’s, was unforgettable—filled with love and shared generously.
Beth will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and deep familial love.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Laurelwood Cemetery, 143 Laurel Street, Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she will be laid to rest in her family’s cemetery.
