Fort Mill, SC – Mr. Ernest Keith Blackwell, 63, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Piedmont Medical Center, Fort Mill.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Fort Mill Church of God, 221 Academy Street, Fort Mill, SC with Reverend Doctor Jacob King, and Reverend Larry Nivens officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Old York Road Rock Hill. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Fort Mill Church of God, 221 Academy Street, Fort Mill, SC.

Born in Wahalla, SC, Keith was the son of the late Ernest Blackwell and the late Annie Pearl Young Blackwell.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Darren Blackwell, and sister, Patti Blackwell.  He was employed by Duke Energy with 41 years of service. He was a member of Fort Mill Church of God. Keith was a credentialed minister in the Church of God. He loved to sing for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He not only had the gift of singing, but was a gifted musician. If you only remember one thing about Keith, he walked his talk.

Keith loved his wife of over 35 years, Evelyn Joan Braswell Blackwell, spending weekends traveling to favorite places like Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Helen, Georgia. He loved his son, Tyler Blackwell, his daughter, Destiny Blackwell, his son, Robbie Freeman, and daughter-in-love, Kim Freeman; he had two grandchildren, Luke and Katie, he loved spending time with them. His conversation with Katie or as he called her “Bug”, they talked about music and especially the Lord and the Bible. He loved when Luke would run up to him and holler “play with me Popa”. He is also survived by his three sisters, Debra (James) Blackston of Liberty, SC, Phyllis Smith of Seneca, SC, Pam Burrell of Seneca, SC, when going back home to Walhalla area to visit, he loved spending time with his sisters and a host of nephews and nieces.
