Chester, SC – Ernest Ray Williams, 96, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at MUSC Health Medical Center in Chester, SC.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Zion Cemetery on Cameron Rd and Elm Rd, Chester, SC 29706.   The family will hold visitation Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Ernest Ray Williams was born on January 20, 1929, to the late Ernest Thomas Williams and Ally Mae Hasty Williams, in Rock Hill, SC.  Mr. Williams worked at the Bleachery in Rock Hill for 33 years before transitioning to his role as an electrician at Duke Energy.  He retired from Duke Energy after nearly 20 years and spent most of his spare time gardening, fishing, and listening to music.  Above all, he loved his family.  He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking and often made birdhouses and toys for his grandchildren.  Mr. Williams also always kept everyone laughing at his jokes and riddles. He left many fond memories to his family and he will be dearly missed.

Mr. Williams is survived by his children, Harry W. Williams and Danny R. Williams (Sue Eargle); his twin sister, Faye Williams Evans; his brothers, J.C. Williams and Larry Williams; his grandchildren, Leslie W. Hensley, Charlotte Williams (Dyllan Martinsen), Mariah Synovec (John), Kaitlyn Williams, and Dakota Beaver; and his great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Jane Williams, Logan Phelps, Oliver Synovec, Cory T.  Hensley, and William Ray Hensley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah R. Williams; his daughter, Katie W. Miller and her spouse, Richard; his grandson, Danny R. Williams Jr.; and his daughter-in-law, Lynn B. Williams.
