Rock Hill, SC – Eugene Whitfield Duarte Jr, 75, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
Mr. Duarte was born on January 26, 1950, in Brockton, MA, to the late Eugene Whitfield Duarte Sr. and the late Silvania Lomba Andrade. The oldest of three children, he was raised in the Catholic faith and grew up serving as an altar boy. After graduating from high school in Massachusetts, Mr. Duarte then made the brave choice to join the United States Marine Corps. After his service to his country, he chose to become a construction welder by trade. However, the most important thing in his life was his family. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, and will be affectionately remembered as “the fun uncle” who had a very warm heart.
He is survived by his sister, Ellie Mobley; many nieces and nephews; and Katrina Evans (Nick).
He was preceded in death by his late parents; and his brother, Ted Duarte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Duarte’s name to Hospice and Community Care at PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
The family will hold a visitation from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday December 27, 2025, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
