York – Mrs. Frances M. Burgess, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 5, 2023 with her family by her side.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother full of wit, knowledge and a smile that lit up a room. She was beloved by her family, friends and church family.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Oakdale Church of God of the Union Assembly, 2367 Saluda Rd, Rock Hill with Revs. Ernest Sisk and Herbie Butler officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road.
Born in Rock Hill, Mrs. Burgess was the daughter of the late Melba Misskelley Porcher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Lee Burgess; her stepfather, Milson Porcher; her daughters, Pamela Burgess and Beth Dennis; and her son-in-law, Frank Dennis.
Surviving are her three sons, James Burgess, Palmer “Lee” Burgess, and Gary Burgess; her four daughters, Lynne Burgess, Terry Smith (Mike), Diane Angel (Roger) and Donna B. Talley (Ricky) of York; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert “Bob” Misskelley (Shirley).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Burgess’ name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
