Frances Stone Workman, age 95, of Rock Hill, SC passed to Glory on November 5. 2026. A devoted servant of Jesus Christ, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, she was known to her grandchildren and many others as “Grandmama” a name she wore with great pride and affection.
Frances was born on January 31, 1931 in Kingstree, SC to the late Frank Stone and Lena Powell Stone. The family then moved to Moncks Corner SC where she excelled in academics and basketball at Berkley County High School.
A lifelong believer in education, Frances attended Winthrop College and graduated with degrees in home economics and science. While in Rock Hill, she met the “true love of her life” Charlie Workman. Her children were blessed to be raised on the knowledge that their parents always loved each other (and them) “Heaps!”
Frances taught seventh grade at Findley Road School before having a successful career in Real Estate and construction. Her love of the Lord then grew into working with Stonecroft Missions where she led hundreds of Bible Studies and spoke at Christian Women’s Clubs around the world inspiring others to serve Jesus. She was also a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Chuck (Pat) Workman of Norwood NC, Stone (Jean) Workman of Monticello, Ga, Linda (Allen) Schnaak of Georgetown SC; grandchildren Charles Workman, Elizabeth Hope, Lindsay Lee, Peter, Schnaak, Daniel Schnaak and Phillips Workman and great-grandchildren Charles Workman, Mary Wilson Workman, Hawkins Hope, Naomi Lee and Miles Lee.
A family graveside service will be held on November 12 and a “Celebration of Life and Salvation” service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the church or ministry of your choice.
