It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fred Robert Westmoreland Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
He was surrounded by family when he went to be with his Lord and Savior.
Fred was born and raised in Rock Hill, SC. He was the second son of Boyd Honley Westmoreland Sr. and Mary McClaflin Westmoreland. On June 23, 1962, he married Carol Beth King. Together, they proudly raised four children: Robert Westmoreland (Leslie), Jay Westmoreland (Denise), Beth Wilson (Stephen) and Doug Westmoreland (Melanie) all of Rock Hill.
In addition to his wife and children, Fred is survived by nine grandchildren: Lindsey Bullard(Travis), Taylor Jackson(Brian), Fuller Wilson(Brooke), Copeland Westmoreland(Madison), Wes Wilson, Cooper Westmoreland, Carson Westmoreland, Honley Wilson, and Sara Beth Westmoreland; and three great-grandchildren: Hayes Bullard, Brooks Jackson, and Avery Wilson and 3 more expected this year.
He is also survived by his sister, Frances Prince (Bill), and his brother, Andy Westmoreland (May May), and sister-in-law, Genora Westmoreland. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Boyd Honley Westmoreland, Jr.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Rock Hill where he was also a member of Gene Williams Sunday school class. Fred worked for 40 years at Star Paper Tube where he later became the plant manager.
Fred was a wonderful husband of 63 years and loved his family dearly. Fred could often be heard singing a favorite hymn while working around the house or doing two of the things he enjoyed most, taking care of the grandkids and working in his yard. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he loved going to all of their events and sporting activities. These memories will be forever cherished.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 6:00-7:30 pm. at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC and other times at the home of Fred and Carol Westmoreland.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 pm. on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at First Baptist Church, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill. Burial will follow at Eastview Baptist Church, 1430 Gordon Road, Rock Hill, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, Rock Hill or Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
