Rock Hill, SC –Mr. Fred Thomas McCraven, 63, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
Born in Chester, SC on August 25, 1961, Fred was the son of the late Fred Spencer McCraven and the late Francis Louise Melton.
Fred cherished every moment spent with his family. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter, storytelling and of course, his favorite dishes. Fred was particularly passionate about attending Renaissance fairs, where he enjoyed the rich history and vibrant community. He also enjoyed hockey, he was an avid fan, always cheering on his favorite teams.
Fred is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Penny McCraven; his stepson, Matthew D. Marriott; his sister, Diane McCraven; his brother, Spencer McCraven (Emily); his cherished grandchildren, Jude Wine, Nova Wine and Jack Wine; his daughter in law, Brandy Wine; his brother-in-law, Harrold Parrish and Rod Bricker; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Parrish and Suezanne Marriott Bricker; his niece, Heather McCraven Faucett (Michael) and his nephew Dusty McCraven (Elaine) as well as several cousins. Aside from his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his sister, Shela McCraven Johnson.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 12pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29732. A visitation where family and friends are invited, will take place at 11am before the service to share any memories they will remember him for.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Fred’s name to VIA Health Partners.
