Rock Hill, SC – Geraldine Franklin, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on July 14, 1936, in York, South Carolina, Geraldine’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and the deep connections that bind families together.
She was the daughter of Paul and Ruby Hines, who laid the groundwork for her strong character and nurturing spirit. Throughout her life, Geraldine embraced the roles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother with unwavering dedication. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie Franklin, and her son, Roger Jordon. In addition, she mourned the loss of her dear sisters Nelli Hines, Alice Williams (Jesse), JoAnn Lemons (Gordan), and her brothers Bobby Hires (Doris), Billy Hines (Mary), Paul Hines, Clyde Hines (Donna), and Charles Hines.
Despite these losses, Geraldine’s spirit remained unbroken. She is survived by her sister, Betty Carroll (Wallace), who was a source of comfort and companionship. Geraldine’s legacy continues through her granddaughters: Amanda Jordan-Scott Gregory, Jennifer Jordan Dumancas (Tiana), and Arick Noya. She was also a proud great-grandmother to three wonderful great-grandchildren and had many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
Geraldine lived a long, fulfilling life, filled with moments of joy and laughter. She had a passion for nurturing her family and created a warm, welcoming home that reflected her love for those around her. Her hobbies and interests were as diverse as her personality, but what stood out the most was her unwavering commitment to her family and her ability to bring people together.
During her last years, Geraldine received exceptional care at Rock Hill Acute Care, and her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their kindness and compassion. Their dedication made her final days comfortable and filled with dignity.
As we celebrate the life of Geraldine Franklin, we remember her not just for the years she lived, but for the love she shared and the lives she touched. Her memory will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love of her family that surrounds her now.
