Greenville, SC — Our beloved Mother and (Nanny) Geraldine Purdee Taylor, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the grand age of 101 years old. Mrs. Taylor was a Rock Hill, SC native and was the daughter of the late Tom R. Purdee and Margaret G. Purdee. She was the widow of Steve H. Taylor.
Mrs. Taylor attended Rock Hill High School and spent many years working at Celanese Corporation before retiring. She was known for her generosity, her quick wit & sharp humor, and especially enjoyed traveling & meeting her friends at Hardee’s for breakfast. She loved doing things for others. Geraldine cherished time spent with family and friends. She loved so many people and so many loved her in return. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in Rock Hill, SC.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her three daughters: Ann Graves, Judy Bechtler (Eddie), and Pat Green; four grandchildren: Ginger Goff (Gregg), Brian Graves (Patti), Doug Bechtler, and Lisa Aker (Jeff); seven great grandchildren: Heather Bechtler Puleo, Holly Bechtler, Gregory Goff, Sophie Aker, Taylor Graves, Scott Graves, Nick Graves; and two great-great grandchildren: Betty Goff, and Benson Goff.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 15th at 1:00 pm at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC with Pastor Richard E. Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Bethel Methodist Church, 1232 Curtis Street, Rock Hill, S.C. 29730, or to a charity of one’s choice.
