Rock Hill, SC – Grady W. Watkins, Jr., 78, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, located at 2133 Ebenezer Rd. The service will follow at 11:00 AM with the burial taking place immediately afterward at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road.
Born in York County, South Carolina, Grady was the son of the late Grady Watkins Sr. and Winnie Mae Threadgill Watkins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea Watkins, and his sisters, Shirley Collins, Rachael Robertson, Patricia Shuler, and Betty W. Fields.
Grady dedicated 40 years of his life to Bowater; many people will always remember him for his kind and smooth character. He was also a sports enthusiast; he had a special like for the Carolina Panthers. He enjoyed reading and studying his Bible, often sharing his faith through testifying. Grady was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Rock Hill.
Grady is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Beverly Ann Watkins; his son, Terry Scroggs; his granddaughter, Britny Leal (Esteban); and great-grandsons Cameron Cole and Ezra Leal. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Watkins, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will always hold a special place in his heart.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Caring Season Health in Fort Mill, especially Rhonda, for their exceptional care and dedication, as well as his nieces and nephews who were always there for him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grady’s memory to Levine Children’s Hospital or any child-focused organization, as well as to Caring Season Health of Fort Mill.
