Rock Hill, SC – Ms. Harriet Long Latham, 87, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Park Pointe Village.
Born in Rock Hill, SC, Harriet was the daughter of the late Ernest McClain Long and the late Lois Mae Langley Long both of Rock Hill. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ernest McClain of Rock Hill and Jane Long Troy of Ridgefield, Ct.
Ms. Latham was a graduate of Winthrop University and retired from the Clover School District in 1992 after a dedicated career as an educator specializing in teaching children with learning disabilities. She continued her passion of teaching and working with children for many years after her retirement as a private tutor.
An avid cat mom, she leaves behind her two beloved “children” Blossom and Simba. Additionally she is survived by her brother-in-law, Michael Troy of McLean, VA, her nephews Ernest McClain “Buddy” Long (Laura) of Millsap, Tx., Michael Troy of McLean, Matthew Troy (Kaitlyn) of Darien, CT; Christopher Long of Rock Hill, SC, Andrew Long (Kendra) of Rock Hill, SC, her niece Colleen Long Burson (Scott) of Glendora, CA, her cousin Laura Gunter of Rock Hill and many great nieces and nephews.
Following her cremation there will be a small gathering of close family to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Humane Society of York County, 8177 Regent Pkwy, Fort Mill, SC 29715.
